The most common thing that people say when it’s suggested they have a sports massage is: ‘I’m not a sports person’. You don’t have to be sporting to benefit from a Sports Massage, in fact over 95% of Emma’s clients at the clinic are not what we commonly perceive as ‘sports people’. Let’s explain a bit about what this type of massage is.

A sports and remedial massage is a deep tissue manipulation, which helps to realign soft tissue fibres. Soft tissues include muscles, tendons and ligaments, all of which are connected in some way to our bones and joints, therefore massage is often beneficial to assist with existing Physiotherapy treatment.

Many of Emma’s clients have a regular massage, which is a great way to keep the muscles and connective tissue supple and tension free which, combined with regular stretches and exercises in between treatments, means they can be pretty much pain free most of the time!

Now in all honesty, the massage itself is not usually relaxing but the results can last for many weeks and often months following an initial course of treatments. So if you’re after a bit of light pampering then you will probably find this type of massage is not for you. However, be assured that as everyone is different, the pressure Emma uses is within the tolerance of each individual client. She is here to help you and would be pleased to discuss any concerns you may have during your appointment.

Emma has also worked with London Rowing Club, attending their Regattas, including Henley Royal Regatta. Emma was the team’s massage therapist, providing pre and post race massage as well as offering support and advice with regards to warm up and warm down exercises and stretches.
